The Complete TV Setup Guide
From opening the box to fine-tuning the picture — follow these steps in order for a smooth, confident setup.
Get your television up and running
Work through each step at your own pace. You will not need any special skills — just a little patience and the remote.
Unbox carefully
Lay the box flat, open from the top and lift the screen by its frame — never press on the panel. Keep the stand, screws and remote together, and hold on to the packaging until you are sure everything works.
Choose the right spot
Aim for the centre of the screen to sit at seated eye level. Avoid placing the TV opposite a bright window to reduce glare, and leave a little breathing room around the vents so it stays cool.
Attach the stand or plan the mount

Connect your devices
Use HDMI for streaming sticks, game consoles and players. Label each cable end so you can find inputs later, and connect a soundbar via the HDMI port marked ARC or eARC for the simplest audio setup.
Power on and run first-time setup
Follow the on-screen wizard: pick your language and region, connect to Wi-Fi, and allow any initial software update to install. Updates often fix bugs and improve picture handling, so it is worth the short wait.
Tune the picture
Start with a picture mode like "Movie", "Cinema" or "Filmmaker" for the most natural colours. Adjust brightness to suit your room and turn off heavy motion smoothing if on-screen movement looks unnaturally smooth.
Tidy the cables
Bundle cables with reusable ties and route them behind furniture or through a cable channel. A tidy finish looks better and makes it far easier to swap devices in the future.
Before you sit back and relax
A quick final pass to make sure nothing has been overlooked.
- Software is fully updated to the latest version
- Each input is labelled (Streaming, Console, Player…)
- Picture mode chosen to suit your room lighting
- Audio output set correctly for your soundbar or speakers
- Cables are secured and out of walkways
